Dynamic Scheduling Strategies for Firm Semi-Periodic Real-Time Tasks

چکیده

This paper introduces and assesses novel strategies to schedule firm semi-periodic real-time tasks. Jobs are released periodically have the same relative deadline. Job execution times obey an arbitrary probability distribution can take either bounded or unbounded values. We investigate several optimization criteria, most prominent being Deadline Miss Ratio ( DMR ). All previous work uses some admission policies but never interrupt of admitted job before its On contrary, we introduce three new control parameters dynamically decide whether a at any given time. derive Markov model use stationary determine best value each parameter. Finally conduct extensive simulation campaign with 16 different distributions. The results nicely demonstrate how help improve system performance compared traditional approaches. In particular, show that (i) pre-execution rules, make significantly better decisions; (ii) specifically, key parameter is upper bound waiting time job; (iii) scheduling strategy decreases by up 0.35 over competitors.

Scheduling Periodic Distributed Hard Real - Time Tasks

We present several eecient on-line and oo-line strategies for assigning periodic tasks to the nodes of a distributed system, such that the tasks can be feasibly scheduled by the node using some local static/dynamic priority assigning rule. We describe rules that lead to a near optimal utilization factor. Strategies are given for approximation algorithms and the approach leads to a high guarante...

Online Semi-Partitioned Multiprocessor Scheduling of Soft Real-Time Periodic Tasks for QoS Optimization

In this paper, we propose a novel semipartitioning approach with an online choice of two approximation algorithms, Greedy and Load-Balancing, to schedule periodic soft real-time tasks in homogeneous multiprocessor systems. Our objective is to enhance the QoS by minimizing the deadline misses and maximizing the total reward or benefit obtained by completed tasks in minimum response time. Many re...

A Real-Time Scheduling Algorithm for Soft Periodic Tasks

Since now, some scheduling algorithms have been presented to guarantee the time constraints of soft real-time tasks, but most of them have some drawbacks. The first drawback of them is that scheduling decisions are based on parameters which are assumed to be crisp; however, in many environments the values of these parameters are uncertain. The second one is the high time complexity of these met...

Preference-Oriented Scheduling Framework for Periodic Real-Time Tasks

We consider a set of real-time periodic tasks where some tasks are preferably executed as soon as possible (ASAP) and others as late as possible (ALAP) while still meeting their deadlines. After introducing the idea of preference-oriented (PO) execution, we formally define the concept of PO-optimality. For fully-loaded systems (with 100% utilization), we first propose a PO-optimal scheduler, na...

Optimal Reward-Based Scheduling for Periodic Real-Time Tasks

Reward-based scheduling refers to the problem in which there is a reward associated with the execution of a task. In our framework, each real-time task comprises a mandatory and an optional part. The mandatory part must complete before the task's deadline, while a nondecreasing reward function is associated with the execution of the optional part, which can be interrupted at any time. Imprecise...
